how to tango

I've been encouraged to ask this question even though it may be too late as our son is coming home soon from studying in argentina, our other son is entering college, and we'll be lucky to afford trips to the beach, let alone argentina. Here's the question: Can you tango without taking lessons or do you have to take lessons in a class filled with people who don't look like they should be able to dance better than you can but they can?

I didn't realize a dance offer was on the boards... I answered u on my TR. I will say that for me Tango was not an easy dance to learn. totally have to untrain any ballroom dance or other dance from your mind and body to learn tango.

Thanks yes. Untraining is difficult at my age, but we might try a lesson at a bar on u street in two or three weeks. I have a feeling if its not like the jitterbug it won't work, and I don't think it's like the jitterbug.
