Buenos Aires: Museums and art galleries
Is there a weekly guide to art exhibtions in Buenos Aires? I've found this Artforum site (below) quite useful, but it doesn't include some museums I would like to visit such as Museo Xul Solar.

Are there other galleries and museums you would recommend visiting? I'm particularly interested in seeing modern and contemporary Argentian art.

Omigod, if you like Museums, you are coming to the Right Place!
There are over 100 museums in Buenos Aires, it is my goal to visit them all.
In no particular order, these are my faves, particularly because most of them are so close to my home, I walk over there whenever I feel like it ...
The Belle Artes Museum
The Palais de Glace ( always changing )
The MALBA
The Decorative Artes Museum ..in addition to the museums collection, there is always something new visiting , recently I spent a long time gazing at very old very wonderful Glass..
and some fantastic Houdon sculptures from the Louvre..
The Recoleta Cultural Center where a fabulous photo exhibit is going on in addition to the usual.
The Borges in the Galleries Pacifico where there is the World PRess Photo exhibit
The Metropolitan
The Hernandez
The Evita Museum ... a big surprise to us and all our friends, what a great museum, in a mansion, fantastic music and a wonderful cafe that I try to go to often.
There is a little book called the mapa de las artes that my son got here on his visit and it has all the museums and websites and addresses.. try to get one when you arrive.

We liked all of the museums in Buenos Aires but our favorite was the recently opened Coleccion Fortabat in Puerto Madero. The contemporary building is set on the water and houses the private collecton of the Fortabat family. It has a nice cafe too. www.coleccionfortabat.org.ar Another guest at our hotel recommended it but the concierge had not heard of it(Marriott.)We were very happy that we found out about it.
