Go wine tasting, tango dancing (or watch a show), or to a park. If you want to get away from the car fumes, honks, and hustle and bustle of the streets, head to the beautiful and tranquil Palermo Park. You can rent little boats and take a mini cruise on the park's lakes, passing under beautiful bridges. Several excellent museums are also located in the park, such as the Planetario and the Sivori Museum. The Park also features a stunning Japanese garden, a rose garden, the Buenos Aires Zoo, and even a hippodrome, so you will not find yourself short of things to do here!
Try the most popular meal, "el asado" or "parrillada", a mixed grill of steak and other cuts. A traditional parrillada includes meat, sausages, chinchulines (small intestines), riñones (kidneys) and morcilla (blood sausage).
You cannot leave Buenos Aires without drinking mate with the locals.
If you're looking for nightlife check out Palermo Soho, the hot and trendy district literally packed with bars and clubs open all night long.
I'm sure you'll have a great trip! Enjoy!

I have lived in Buenos Aires for 4 years and I still cannot stand the taste of Maté , I feel fine telling you that you can skip it and go straight to the fabulous Argentine wines
I always recommend the Big Bus tour, it is the big yellow open top bus that goes all over Buenos Aires. It is a hop on , hop off tour , it is a fantastic way to get an overview of the city, saving you a lot of walking .. and never seeing half as much.
With the time you have , I would suggest Recoleta as a source of restaurants, parks and museums without having to walk so far.
Plaza Francia is so beautiful, this is where the Feria is every weekend ( huge ) and Recoleta Cemetery and good restaurants and cafes.
I agree with Palermo Soho for nightlife and more shopping.

There's so much to see in Buenos Aires.
If I only had a day and a half I'd go to the Museum of Latin American Art (MALBA) to see the Marta Minujín exhibition. BTW can someone tell me how to correctly pronounce her surname?
I'd make sure I ate all of the following (not necessarily together): steak, pizza, icecream, Malbec, alfajores.
I'd do a tour of the Opera House, Teatro Colon, or even better go to a performance and would finish off with some shopping at Humawaca (great handbags) and Patio Bullrich (I liked Maria Cher, good casual T-shirts and tops).

The Teatro Colon is closed at the present. No idea when they will re-open.
