I am now in El Calafate back from El Chaltzn.
We sent to a small historia from there to lagunes dos tres (sp ?). Nice hike. Not that difficult except the last km ( 0,6 mile ) that took us ... 1 h 20.
Our 7 years old was ahead of us and walked the 20 kms of the day without complaining.
We are not in pristine condition but it was Soooooo beautiful.
Tomorrow we go to Salta where we have a car for about a week.
Will tell in a week where we went ;-)
We skipped Bariloche and Ushuaia.
We went to Puerto Madryn - saw pingouins whales and so ... great moments too.

In El calafate we did excursions to lake Argentina (estancia Cristina - great) a 4x4 excursion that took us to a condor and a trip to péritonite Moreno. Fantastic excursions that took most if 3 days. Nearly no walking. The city is nice.
We stayed at hotel alto calafate that I recommend. Great swimming pool
