Looking for a reasonably priced centrally located hotel in BA ...I can't seem to find anything under $250 in the Recuelta district. Anyone know one? So far, Claridge in El Centro is the leader.


Any suggestions or comments? Is the Palermo district inconvenient to the major attractions? seems to be..taxi to all of them?

In Recoleta, Art Suites and LoiSuites-Recoleta are both $150 or less.

Major attractions are located in Recoleta (Cemetery, Art Museums, cafes), San Telmo and la Boca (historic quarters & Sunday antiques fair), downtown (plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada...historic cafe Tortoni)and Palermo Soho (boutiques....leading edge restaurants and clubs and parks)....Yes, you will need to take a cab from Soho to most other attractions...but if you stay in downtown, you will take a cab to Soho...either way you will taxi.....no big deal in BA, where taxis are plentiful and cheap...

Palermo Botanico is a nice walk from Recoleta, we do it all the time.
Palermo Viejo, Soho, Hollywood are just a little farther, a cheap fast taxi ride ..

I agree with Dr Dawggys hotel recommendations... Art Suites and Loi Suites. You would be in the main part of Recoleta where you can see many of the tourist sites and it is easy getting to other neighborhoods from Recoleta.

It is a big city so you will have to take taxis here but the price is right..

I'm not very familiar with prices but regarding location I think you should consider the Recoleta district and the area around Plaza San Martín, some hotels located there are Argenta Tower, Suipacha Suites, Sofitel (but it's over USD 250), Loi Suites Arenales
Staying at Microcentro is ok since you will be close to mmany historic buildings and other attractions however, as it is the financial center, at night and during weekends it gets quite deserted... and during the day it's full of people, busses, taxis, noise and smoke all over...

When I went to BA in 2003, we stayed at Claridge's. I thought it was centrally located enough. Although BA is a big city, I did not think the city center was so far from Recoleta or Palermo by taxi. Taxis were plentiful, cheap, and convenient as "drdawggy" says. Claridge's is a reasonably good hotel. The staff was very kind and helpful. And there are many good restaurants within walking distance of Claridges.
