Hi All,

We need a reasonable hotel in Rio for four nites in December, preferably near the beach areas. Recommendations are appreciated! Also, airfares from Rio to the Iguazu Falls went up almost $100 overnite! Do they go up and down based on more popular tourist travel times?? Big jump. Thanks for your suggestions.

and weekend bookings...play around with your dates

check fares on Tuesday they back down list sales usually...

we got a great deal at hotel praia ipanema. it's right on the main drag, and every room has a balcony (which is really rare in rio for some reason and which we realllly enjoyed). rooms were clean and modern. info and pics in our rio post at http://patrinadoestheglobe.blogspot.com/

If you are planning to be there for New Years, expect to pay double or tripple that amount..
