Fairfield/Westport

I am travelling from Boston back to my hometown of Fairfield, CT. I am seeing Josh Groban in Wallingford Friday night, so I think I have settled on the Trumbull marriott as it is centrally located to both Friday night's activities and Saturday night's. I would like to go for drinks and dinner in Ffld, Westport or SoNo. I'm looking for both hip, cool places for drinks, and also a touch of romance for dinner. Lunch suggestions, too. Please give me suggestions. I haven't lived in the Ffld area for decades, although I LOVE it.

SoNo is where the action is in terms of a "hip, cool place." Right around the train station is where all the bars are - Amberjacks is one I have been to that I liked - can't remember the names of others, but they're all within walking distance of eachother.

Thanks so much. I have been to SoNo and loved it. how do I get there? Can I get there from the Merritt? Can you possibly brief me on directions from merritt or 95S? Thanks so much!!

Living in NYC, I haven't had a car in years, so I'm only familiar with things near train stations. But there are signs on 95 (and I would imagine the Merrit as well) directing you to every train station. On either route, you'd be heading South, so take the exit for the South Norwalk train station - there will be signs as you get off the exit (again, I can be sure about this for 95 - not sure about the Merrit). Like I said, the bar scene is right near the train station (the tracks literally go over some of the bars), so once you find the station, you've found downtown. You have to pay to park most places, I believe, but you may be able to find a free lot/street if you look.
