I like to spend 4-6 weeks in London each year (Zone 1 or zone 2 preferred, zone 3 for the right place). My regular haunt of the past decade, in Notting Hill Gate, has been closed.

Looking for rec’s for a solo traveler. A studio is fine but must have en suite and a kitchenette as well as good transport links. A front desk — at least during business hours — (not just “remote check-in to your apartment; check out in 6 weeks ….”) is also a must. That alone may rule out serviced apartments.

I am also looking at short-term digital nomad options but they seem to require 12+ weeks.

BONUS QUESTION: rec’s in other locations to broaden my horizons….but I do enjoy London (napped in three Royal Parks today during the heatwave …)

Budget? Places like Fraser Suites and Citadines would likely be prohibitively expensive for a month+.

Many of the places I am familiar with except for Dolphin House have either closed or converted to longer term corporate housing.

Dolphin House (in Pimlico) would tick all the boxes -- front desk, close to a tube station, on-site amenities, good bus service, full kitchens, etc. It used to be great but I haven't stayed there since before they closed for top to bottom refurbishment and I would assume their rates are now sky high.

I am not sure how relevant they are with the Zones you've listed in this thread.

Citadines, as mentioned already, has what you need. The one in Holburn, a few minutes walk from the tube, was brand new inside when I stayed.

Not sure if they still exist but on Cartwright Gardens in Bloomsbury, look for Studios2Let or similar. We had a small studio with kitchen and bathroom, opening window on to a back garden. It's a series of townhouses with reception in another building.

it is a shame that almost all of the residential boarding houses have closed; my guess is that Vincent House will have a top-to-bottom refurbishment and reopen in a few years as very pricey short term flats.

Oh -- I just remembered Chelsea Cloisters. Its been more than 15 years since I stayed there so have no idea about the current management (back in those days it had everything from teensy/basic/dated studios to large/posh flats - it seems to have been greatly updated) but the location is great midway between Sloane Sq and South Kens stations.

If you'll be in one place for around four to six weeks, have a think about house sitting. It's not for everyone. Someone's house or apartment to live in, with a cat or dog to feed. Usually free to house sitter though UK might be different. We did house sitting for about a year in Australia, good and not-so-good. No rent or mortgage for all that time but the best part was getting to know lots of different areas.
