Rome monastery stay

I am looking into a momentary stay in Rome. Has anyone stayed and what was your experience? I am quiet and typically don’t stay out that late so the curfew wouldn’t be an issue.

Not a monastery, but I stayed in a convent the first time I went to Rome, so it was a long time ago (2005). I was a little concerned about the shared bath, but I never ran into anyone when I wanted to use it. I went with it because it was so inexpensive, 50 Euro, if you can believe it, and the location, which was just outside the Piazza Navona. Breakfast was minimal. I didn't regret staying there because the location was so good. I went to the Opera one night and knew I wouldn't be back in time for the curfew, but I let them know, and the guy on duty let me in. (It's no longer a convent and is now an upscale hotel that is out of my budget, even though my budget is a lot more than 50 Euro!)

over the years I've stayed in a few though not in Rome, I have catholic friends who have stayed in Roman ones and they are fine and priced accordingly to what they are.

I don't think the various church linked hotels/hostels have been much if any cheaper for awhile. They're basically charging market prices.

There are some on booking making it easy to compare. You can also read the reviews. Not all are spartan.

I'd also suggest thinking about location . Staying north west of the Vatican would be cheaper but it would end up costing you in travel time.
