Snow covered village in beginning of March
we are going for a work trip to Switzerland. Want to visit a small snow covered village for 3-4 nights (1st week of March) in Switzerland or France. We do not ski . So does not have to be a ski resort. However if a ski resort is the best option , then we can visit the same. Would be driving from and back to Geneva.

In short, go high. Wengen, Grindelwald etc. Alas we are having unseasonably warm weather in Switzerland at the moment. Today in Basel the high will be in the low to mid 50sF. And temps are expected to remain above normal for several days.
FWIW, we had lovely fresh snowfall last year in early March so cross your fingers!

The only sure bet is a ski resort, but once you have arrived, the best thing to do is just watch the weather report on the local news and you will soon know where to find some snow. The snow might be much closer than you think. March weather is very erratic.

In winter, taking public transportation might be your best bet. Public transportation in Switzerland is excellent -- comfortable, convenient, no need to worry about roads, no restraints on the driver's ability to enjoy the views. Check the sbb website.

You are right, Tulips: all these "stations" in France are not even villages, but artificial clusters of hotels and holiday flats, crowded during the season and empty and closed most of the year.
But scenic small alpine settlements have often no touristic infrastructure. And the OP is talking about resorts too.
So, it's not clear what he is looking for.
Therefore I didn't make specific recommendations. I just wrote, "you may check"
So the OP can just load down a few pictures and decide whether he is interested in or not.

You may want to check Megeve. It's only an hour from Geneve by car, and it's an easy drive, not too far into the mountains.
You can check the webcam to see if there is snow in the village.
You will not find accomodation for a few days in early March, but it's close enough for a daytrip from Geneve.

If there will be snow at Megeve, there will be snow in tons of other (and in this case really small) mountain villages in Haute Savoie and Valais.
Actually places like Mase (1400m) are completely free of snow. But one never knows......
