Transportation between Galway and Ashford castle ireland

I will be traveling with a friend to Ashford Castle from Galway and I'm having a difficult time finding transportation between the two. I understand there is a bus and I understand there might be an Uber like service available. There's supposedly a very unreliable bus between the two. Does anyone have any thoughts on getting to Ashford Castle from Galway. Also from Shannon airport to Galway we know there's a bus for that the tech supposedly 90 minutes but again I'm wondering about an Uber like Service or anything else

I'm curious what you are planning to do car-less while staying at Ashford. But your best source for specific information would be to contact the concierge.

The Hotel's website indicates a driver from Galway would run €150. Or just contact a Galway taxi company/car service.

There's no Uber in Ireland so if you can't get the bus the only option is a taxi

Rome2Rio says there's an hourly bus to a place called Oughterard, but you'd still need a taxi from there and it's nearly 30 miles. I wouldn't count on the bus on a Sunday or probably a Saturday either. Buses are run by Citylink and Bus Eireann

Think you are better off getting a taxi directly from Galway, where there are several taxi firms, rather than ending up I Oughterard

I'm not staying at Ashford Castle. We're staying in Galway and only going to Ashford Castle to do the hawk walk at the school of falconry nearby

Unless money is no object, I honestly don't think it is feasible to do a day trip to Ashford Castle from Galway without a car. Buses or trains really aren't practical.

It would be cheaper to rent a car for the day if that is a possibility. It would still be more than an hour drive each way but would cost less than a car service/taxi.

OR -- if the Hawk Walk is important to you . . . I'd REALLY consider staying the night before in Cong. That way you'd have more time and could travel from/to Galway by bus.
