Transportation: Berlin, Prague, Krakow
First, THANK YOU!!!
Some basic questions:
How far is Tegel Airport from the Regent Hotel in Berlin?
What is the best way of getting from the airport to the Regent midweek? Cost? Easy public transportation?
from Krakow - traveling to Prague....What is the least expensive way to get there? Is that the most convenient? private car? air? (Does anyone know of a fairly priced, reliable, honest, car company?)
How far is Krakow airport from center of Krakow? (Hotel Wentzl)
What is the distance/time? from Prague (Unitas Hotel) to airport? What is the best way of getting to the airport?
Any additional tips/info about Prague and/or Krakow would be appreciated!
Coming to NYC soon? Let us know. We would love to help YOU!!!

there is an overnight train Prague-Krakow that would be the quickest in terms of saving daylight travel time and you save on the cost of a hotel-otherwise fly or pay lots of money for a private driver - still a long drive vs flying.
For lots on trains and overnight trains check www.seat61.com; www.budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com.

Least expensive way is probably bus or train (from Krakow to Prague). The airport is probably about 10 miles outside town or 15 km.
most convenient is no doubt your own private chauffeur, what's the point of asking that, that's always the answer to that question.
I've taken the train, it's a long distance so takes up a day and you have to transfer. I think the shortest time is about 9 hrs, transferring in Katowice. I stopped over a couple nights in Olomouc in Moravia as I wanted to see it, and that broke up the train train going the southern route.
For some surprise reason, there is no good budget airline doing that trip nonstop.

Here's one bus company, polskibus.com they charges around 30 euro and is quicker than the train (as it is more direct)
http://www.polskibus.com/pl/index.htm
Another one only 10 euro. Seems to only take 6:20 hrs. I think I might actually do that if I didn't want to stop off somewhere.

both those websites have an English section.

From Tegel to your hotel it is one bus and one U-bahn ride.
I do not know if this is saved properly:

well, 7:20 hrs, still quicker than the train, can't beat the price>
Again the overnight train may be the best and cheapest considering no hotel costs that night. 7.5 hours on a bus vs sleeping in a berth -for me a no brainer. And if you want the cheapest sleeping options can be very cheap -not as cheap as the bus but more comfy for sure.

One neat thing to do in Krakow IME is to take a train or bus a few miles south of town to the Wieliczka Salt Mines- a UNESCO World Heritage Site and take the tours:

Easy to do on your own - tours come with tickets.
