It sounds like you might be all set with the Holiday Inn Express but if you want a B&B option, I really liked the Lost Whale Inn in Trinidad.

Nothing is set in stone NWW, so thank you for your recoomendation. The setting looks spectacular and Trinidad sounds like an itnteresting little town.

I liked Trinidad a lot. If you stay there, definitely go to the Larrupin' Cafe for dinner--their ribs are really, really good.

We've never overnighted in Trinidad, so no help there...but there is a great seafood restaurant right down on the water. Just keep going downhill until you can't go any farther.

Hi iamq

Since I live up here let me chime in about the redwoods, you would be better off staying at Benbow or at the best western in Garberville for the one night (I have stayed at both). In Garberville best western is the best in town it at least $100 cheaper than Benbow, it and it is farther off 101.They have free wine and cheese in the pm (time your arrival) and breakfast in the am. The Woodrose café is near by if you like a large breakfast. The best stretch of redwoods in the world is along Bull creek about 23 miles north of Benbow. Take a short drive up bull creek to the tall trees area for a hike. It is about 210 miles from Benbow to TuTuTun with sightseeing and lunch your talking a 8 or 9 hour drive. An early 9am start will get you to TuTuTun before sunset. If you want to go up as far is Trinidad, which is better than McKinleyville, that first day figure 6 hours with no stops from the golden gate. The redwoods are 25 miles north of Trinidad. When you go north take the Newton B Drury parkway off 101 north of Orick. That where the redwoods are. On the way to Yachats stop by Bandon via the beach loop road just south of there nice stretch of coast. If you have lunch in Bandon go down by the docks you may see the resident bald eagle, I did for the second time last week.
