Playa Hermosa
I am flying into Liberia the week before Easter and I only have five nights. We are traveling with a six year old and will be flying out on Holy Thursday.
I am considering staying at El Velero since it is walking distance to the beach and is close to the airport.. Has anyone stayed here? Any better options? Would love to have a pool, walking distance to the beach and places to walk to for dinner .
Thank you

We stayed at El Velero around 15 years ago and loved it. Not sure if it's changed since then. Canadian owned, great vibe, and we had this fabulous simple room with a killer view right over the ocean. It was incredibly priced back then at $65/night. Check out their website and also the Trip Advisor reviews for a more updated take.

El Velero used to be the greatest place to stay on Playa Hermosa. Unfortunately, nothing has been updated and the staff went from fun and accommodating to rude and indifferent. I had stayed there many years until the decline became unacceptable. Yes, the price is still very good, the location is great but.......
Check into other places in Playa Hemosa....it's a great place!

Thanks for your honest reply. Would you be able to recommend another hotel. We are traveling with a six year old and would love to be able to walk to the beach and restaraunts. We aren't planning on renting a car as we wil only be there five nights.

Hotel Playa Hermosa Bosque del Mar is right on the beach at the south end ( El Velero is on the north) and was completely remodeled recently. I have not stayed there but some former regulars from El Velero now go to Bosque del Mar for eats and drinks. Their rates will be higher. You can walk to most restaurants from both locations. There are 2 other decent hotels on the same road as El Velero, Mongaby and Acacia that are a short walk to the beach but have nice pools and are less expensive.
