Playa Del Carmen Hotels
My husband and I (early 30's) will be going to Playa in the winter. A nice room with a balcony and ocean view with a beautiful beach is ideally what we'd like. We don't want a massive place with a 1000 rooms.
Any suggestions - greatly appreciated!!!

My wife nd I went to PC this spring and loved it.We stayed at the Colibria It has the best spot on the beach our balcony is probably the closet to the beach as any other hotel ,but you really could'nt see the ocean because of all the palm trees. We went next door and checked out the the El Faro It's probably the nicest in the area.Beautiful rooms and great ocean view. All the beach area there is great.

The two best on the beach is the Colibri and the Elfaro. The Elfaro has several rooms on the beach with a great balcony. These rooms book fast so would need to make a reservation soon if you know when you are going. The Colibri is more laid back. Most of the rooms do not have a great view of the ocean(some none)but if you make a reservation ask for rooms 7-10, I think 7 is the best.If you need anymore information on either fee free to e-mail me.

The other two options are great But I would recomend also Mimi del mar. Ther you will find your own kitchenette, in a mexican cozzy ambiance.

It's close to El Faro.

Hope this can help you good luck! Playa is one of my favorites places.

Mara BV

Wendy - We are staying at the Omni Puerto Aventuras in January. The property is small..only 30 rooms. Each room has a terrace with jacuzzi and hammock. The dive shop is supposed to be one of the best in the area. Puerto Aventuras is a marina community about 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. This will be our first time at the Omni, but have heard good things from other friends.
