Need honeymoon/wedding help!!

Hi, my fiance and I have never been anywhere exotic, other than Miami...if you can call it that.

We want to get married somewhere like Mexico. We want to have a few people at our wedding also. I picked Mexico because of the beaches and affordability.

I have searched HIGH and low, and can't seem to make a decision. Maybe you can give me some input.

We want a hotel room that has nice bedding. We want a beach that is nice and not rocky. A swim up bar is necessary. An awesome spa is also necessary. When we eat, we eat well. We have expensive taste when it comes to the food.

Since we are visiting, we are not sure if we should stick with an AI since we aren't sure where to find the entertainment or nice restaurants... or if we should stay at a nice resort with a few nice dinner and entertainment options and just go explore ourselves...

We don't want to get somewhere and have to pay 100 dollars to ride a jetski for 20 minutes because we didn't stay at an AI or have a concierge...

What do you guys suggest?

I was thinking Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach right in the heart of Cancun... or Paraiso de la Bonita in Quintana Roo.. but is there anything to do other than lay on the beach and spa here?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. If you choose Cancun for the location of your wedding, there is LOTS to do besides lay out on the beach. The best beaches in Cancun are along the southern end of the hotel zone. You can go to tripadvisor.com, click on the Cancun site and browse through all the hotels. You'll find information about their location, all the amenities, and whether or not they have wedding packages.

The majority of the hotels in Cancun have at least one swim up bar. Only a few have spas. You'll be able to find that information from the website I gave you above. Good luck.

Stayed at The Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach it is a beautiful hotel. It is up there w/the Ritz and also expensive. Are you going to have any children at your wedding? if you do than Fiesta Americana is a great place to go w/or without children, however if you don't have children going tot he wedding then I suggest one of the Adults Only places like Royal Hideaway or Secrets Capri or Aventura Palace they are about 45 minutes from Cancun but are beautiful. Go to trip advisor.com and check out the reviews from people who have stayed there. I suggest all inclusive because eating in Cancun especially at nice places can be expensive. Good Luck

Ritz-Carlton is just that and you can pretty much be guaranteed that you'll get great food, nice bedding, they'll maintain the beach. But you'll be in the Cancun hotel zone and I can't say that it's exotic or that you'll be near restaurants with great food.

Playa Del Carmen is a wonderful small town with an European feel. Many great restaurants. We stayed at Ikal del Mar a couple of years ago for our honeymoon. It has a rocky beach and no swim up bar. But...it has an awesome spa (we had a treatment everyday). Fantastic bedding. A well thought out menu (we are chefs). Close to Playa ($9 cab ride) to eat dinner.

Although Paraiso de la Bonita may be what you are looking for. Definately read the reviews. And ask each hotel specific questions about your concerns. Keep in mind reviews are relative to that person's experience in life, not only their vacation.

Congrat on your upcoming wedding. My husband and I got married at the Caribe Hilton in Puerto Rico. Mexico is nice too. The Fiesta Americana Gran Coral is a beautiful upscale hotel. The only downfall is the pool and beach is very small so everyone is laying on top of each other. On the other hand, the Fiesta Americana Condesa further down the strip is a mid range hotel. Beautiful grounds and a large pool with the open beach. We stayed in the suite with a jacuzzi overlooking the ocean. It was absolutely awsome! I liked this hotel better. I saw quite a few wedding going on while we stayed there and they were beautiful too. The only thing is the food in CANCUN is not so good. I think Cancun is over priced. I'd be sure to get a meal plan it works out cheaper.
