Does anyone fish in Quepos?
We're traveling to Quepos/MA to do some fishing for Sail Fish. I haven't seen much on the board about fishing guide recommendations. Anyone have recommendations on fishing guides? Luna Tours & the Magic Moon are noted in travel guide books but not much else. And, it seems like we'd have to rent a whole boat for about $900/day. Are there any guides that charge per person that we be a cheaper rate? There will only be two of us. Thank you for any info you have!!!!

The Quepos/MA area is very well known for it's sportfishing! Lucky you! I highly recommend http://www.queposfishing.com/ They have access to a vast fleet in this area and should be able to hook you up for a great price. Additionally, they have a toll free number to call for info. You'll speak with either John or Dave who are located right here in Quepos. Ask them anything and they'll give you great advise. (Even today's weather! and what's been recently caught!) You can tell them Lisa and Harry have referred you, might be good for a discount. Email me at [email protected] if you'd like more info! Have a great trip! Lisa in MA/Quepos

My husband is keenly interested in fishing when we visit Costa Rica in March. Only he'll be fishing and paying $900 or more to rent a boat seems ridiculous. Are there any fishing excursions where a variety of people go out on one boat that would be considerably cheaper?

It has been a couple of years but we had the best luck fishing out of Quepos than any of the other places we have fished down there. (Drake Bay, Puerto Jimenez).
I can't give you current price but assume that it has gone up due to the rise in gas prices in general.

I provided the wrong website for John and Dave in Quepos. It should be www.fishingqueposcostarica.com. Their toll free international number is 1.877.450.9927. John or Dave will answer the phone (none of that silly automated stuff!) and their office is here in Quepos. For those smaller groups, you can request to be placed with other singles. Additionally, they have access to an extensive fleet, many of them less than $900. At present time, there are no boats that charge by the "head" rather than a full charter. When you call (or email) be specific on your dates, budget, number in your party, and what you're interested in catching so your fishing expedition is catered to your specific needs. Safe travels!
