Busses from Liberia to San Jose

I am flying into Liberia on Saturday and I need to take a bus to San Jose. Does anyone know where the bus terminal is in Liberia? Also, does anyone know the cost and time it will take for this part of the trip?

Check Grey Line Tours. I know they have buses that go several times/day. I don't remember exactly where the bus terminal is in Liberia. I know we were considering this, but ended up hiring a driver (for much more money) which was well worth it. It seemed too big of a hassle for us with our luggage to do the bus thing. It is very inexpensive. I know when we were there in March pretty much you could go anywhere for like $28. I'm thinking it is a long ride, though. Someone there we met on one of the legs of our trip said it was an 8 hour trip. It took us four hours from Arenal to Liberia and four hours from San Jose to Arenal just to give you an idea. You may also want to check out Interbus which is a van that can carry maybe ten people. It's inexpensive as well, but probably not as cheap as Grey Line. Hope this helps somewhat.

Tia

We did this trip probably 12 years ago. I'm sure it couldn't have been 8 hours - maybe 4 or 5?

I agree with Susan that the trip should not take 8 hours! About 5 hours should do it. Unless you take a Tica bus which seem to stop every 50 feet!

The couple that we spoke to who took the bus said it did make a great deal of stops. I don't know which bus they took, though. From Liberia to San Jose I think it was approx. five hours, maybe less (seemed forever) on Interbus, but we did get behind some VERY slow traffic on a very hilly section of road so there was no passing. That part was very long!! Nice to see San Jose at night from the top of the hill, though. That was quite a nice scene. Cars pulled over left and right from overheating, though. It was very steep. I actually forgot about that!!! I was HAPPY to get out of the van that night!
