Transportation from San Jose to Monteverde

We arrive @ 7:05am into San Jose and want to go immediately to Monteverde. The next citybus doesnt come until 2:30 and we dont want to waste a whole day.
Does anyone know of any semi-private shuttles that are affordable? We dotn wan t to pay $100 to charter a private one.
Or any alternative means of getting to Monteverde?

THANKS!!!

Please check the website for Interbus. www.interbusonline.com

It offers excellent transportation for about $30 per person. You are either going to have to wait for the public bus or be willing to spend several dolares to get there! It's only money. . .

Looks like there is a 9:00 a.m. Interbus to Monteverde. This would be just about right for you, I would think. I don't know where the pick up point is, however. It says "San Jose", and I think you would need to get into town for pick up. I don't think Interbus picks up at the airport. But you can find out all that you need by visiting the website--you can even buy tickets in advance.

shillmac!!!
THANK YOU!!!
I really appreciate it. $60 total I can handle, better than $100 for private van.

OR, would it be worth hanging out in San Jose city until 2:30? I have been trying to stay clear of San Jose, as it is probably just like any other city...

THANKS AGAIN!!!!

It has a few charms, and ordinarily this would seem like a perfect opportunity to take a few of them in. However, I've a feeling you are going to be a bit exhausted after your flight and I think the sooner you get to Monteverde and can rest a bit, the better off you will be! You're welcome!!

I was thinking about taking Interbus when I went MA (ended up flying) but Christina there told me they would pick me up at the airport & drop me off at the Rollo (?) restaurant right by the airport then a different minibus would take me on my way. Their rates are pretty reasonable & their communications are very good, always answering my e-mails within a day.

Tully, that must be the Rosta Pollo restaurant across from the airport by the Hampton Inn. That's a heck of a lot more convenient that having to travel into San Jose for a pick-up. Good to know.

I think the closest airport pick-up for Interbus is Rosti Pollo. That is where we got picked up for Arenal. It is across the parking lot from Hampton Inn. Just expect a VERY bumpy ride into Monteverde. FYI we had a great meal at Sophia's.

Aha! Mary writes "Rosti Pollo". Now which is it, everyone? I've been thinking "Rosta" didn't look right, but when I typed "Rosti" it didn't either! I think Rosti Pollo is actually the correct name. Anyone? I know it's trivial, but humor me, please!

It's definitely spelled with an "i". I typed it into Google and also found it hyphenated...

What's...U...S...C...?
Just kidding
For college ball, I follow Cal because there's a family member on faculty.
Traveled to SF to see the 49ers because I was handed tickets. Sure, it's easy to get tickets when their record is...what it is right now.
For pro football, I'm a lifetime fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I learnt the game in my formative years when they were on top of the NFL. Stuck with me since then...
How about you?
