Zihuatanejo - Best restaurants

My fiance and I will be in Zihuatanejo the first week of September. We are looking for some nice local restaurants in the area specializing in local cuisine. Any ideas? Thanks.

My favorites were the restaurant at La Casa Que Canta and Kau Kan (opened by the former chef at La Casa Que Canta) in Zihua. In Ixtapa, Villa de Selva had an amazing view. The food was so so but the view was worth it.

We stayed at Villa Del Sol it's right on the beach. We had our own plunge pool, it was great!! Member of SLH group. We did dine out a few nights at recommended rest., food at VDS was always better!!!!

Hi There

johnb gave you the name of a very nice place in Zihuatanejo.
There is a very nice message board dedicated soley for the Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa area...
A very nice fellow called ZihuaROB set up this board.
So please go to this board and direct your questions to him and then many others will give you their point of view also.. It is a nice place Z & X.
here is the website:

Hi, kwil gave you 2 of the best,Kau- Kan and La Casa Que Canta, also Villa del Sol on the beach and Coconuts, downtown "Z".For local flavor try Tamales y Atoles Any, downtown, big & noisy but fun and Casa Elvira or La Sirena Gorda on the Paseo in "Z" and watch everyone go by. These two can be uneven but have good location. There is another resturant Elvira on Playa La Ropa, no connection, and if you dine outside you will be right and I mean RIGHT on the beach. I like it and the fun of the surf a few feet away. In Ixtapa, A short cab ride, try Beccofino, an Italian and seafood, upscale resturant with a good wine list. You can dine outside on the Marina. Have a great trip.
