hello I was just curious if anyone has stayed at either gran melia hotel or the marriot casa magna, which one do you prefer, also I was wondering if any of the beaches have seaweed.

It might be nice to know where in Latin America you're talking about?

Puerto Vallarta maybe? The Marriot is really nice, in The Marina, no experience w/ the other property. Never noticed trouble with seaweed in PV, the beach is very narrow in that part of town.

These are in Cancun, Mexico. Both beautiful and would be good choices. Melia Cancun has a very neat building when you see it from the street and pull in, and the atrium has a lot of greenery. I have not been in the Casa Magna for years, but as far as I know it has a good "Marriott" reputation. Maybe a little less "tropical/Mexican" than the Melia hotels.
