What did you pay last Dec. to Puerto Vallarta?

I am reposting because I made a mistake in my abbeviation. I can book a flight from Atlanta (non stop) to Puerto Vallarta on Delta for $453. It seems high to me but since Ihave never previously looked at fares I am wondering if this is high and if I should wait off.

If anyone went to Puerto Vallarta in early December (8-15th) last year - what did you pay?
Thanks very much.

I was there last year at about the exact same time. We did an Apple trip, and it was just under $1,000 all inclusive at the Riu resort. That seemed the best way to go, as I did check into air fare alone.

I fly from Seattle and paid around $500 on U.S. Airways. I don't stay at a resort, so book plane and hotel separately. but I realize you need people who also fly out of Atlanta to compare accurately.

Did you know you'll be there during the Festival of the Virgin of Guadalupe? It's a wonderful local event with parades in the streets every evening, etc.

I have been there the first wk in Dec and flew out of Phila to Puerto Vallarta on Continental and pay about $700 round trip. Continental is pretty high when I booked the air so This time we are going fr Nov 10-17th and are going w/American and it cost about $600 pp. I think your price is a good one. Suze explained the festivities in town you will be there during them Don't miss it the biggest night is the 12th Our Lady's feast day they celebrate it for 12days ending on that day. It's a great time to mingle with the locals and get to see their culture and their love of Our Lovely Lady the mother of God. Have a great time.

Thank you so much for your responses. I think I am going to book that Delta flight tonight after reading your posts. Wow - it's pretty costly. It looks like this is a good deal and the times are great. I won't kill a day flying.

jmw - I have to book flights seperately because I have a timeshare booked for the week.

I have just been starting my research and I defnitely want to spend a night in Yelapa. From what I have read so far, it reminds me a lot of an unbelievable place we stayed at in Costa Rica last year, called Ylang Ylang on the Nicoya Penninsula. Those memories of that experience will be with me forever.

I am so excited about the Festival you mentioned. I didn't know that would be going on. As I said I am a research nut but haven't quite gotten going with it yet. It sounds like a great take - in. I love to mingle with the locals and do whatever I can to get to really experience the culture. Thanks! I will probably be posting again once I really start planning things.

I think that plane ticket sounds reasonable myself, especially for nonstop (I always have to transfer these days).

I am guessing you will love seeing and participating in the Festival. It culminates on the 12th, and the week leading up to it you'll find the processions downtown every night around the church (music, food, etc.). Lucky timing... since the first time I found it by accident, I have since planned trips specifically to be there during that time.

butsey - I am going to Buganvilias Resort Vacation Club which I think is part of the Sheraton(?)

Last night I went to book the flight I mentioned on this post and it went up $25. I was so surprised because the night before I was told there were very seats sold and this fare should remain for a while. So I booked it at the higher fare. I was told it will probably go up over $600. I feel good about it because of it being non stop and the timing is great. I won't kill the whole day travelling. Maybe by posting the fare here on Fodors made people go out and book up a lot of the seats!

Hi Juldie Glad you booked your flight strange things with the airlines they chng daily. I keep checking and since Continental airlines was so high($1023)pp and we got such a good deal on American airlines ($600) I booked immediately. The only drawback was we leave in the afternoon instead of early morning, but since I work all week it gives me Sat morning to finish up. The Sheraton vacation club is great I always stayed at the hotel until recently I had a chance to stay in the timeshare unit of a friend so now I always book a condo. You should be very happy with the Sheraton I have been going since 1989 now we go in November and March. I have stayed at other hotels when I had to for different reasons but it is so close tot own you can walk. If you need any other info please let me know. Have a great time.
