weekend getaway

Quick feedback would soo be appreciated.

After a fairly stressful couple of months dh strolled in today and announced that we deserved a weekend getaway to somewhere sunny , warm , and easy. He then handed me the deadly credit card and said "book it ..and fast..lets go next weekend"...

Soooo.easy is not always so easy but the Cancun area is easIEST based on the time we will have there and the quickness of getting there. Having said that, we usually stay in the Playa del Carmen area but thought we might actually just do Cancun this time.Somewhere luxurious but cool and laid-back and NOT all-inclusive. Since its been years since I have stayed in actual Cancun, I thought I would ask the experts.

I pretty much have it narrowed to the JW or the Ritz.

And the winner should be>?>????????

The weather forecast always says that. Sometimes it will rain, sometimes not. It's rarely accurate.

Looks like the Westin and Meridien also great deals now

on some wonderful hotels bidding Priceline...

$60/nt bids are winning on the Westin $80 for Meridien

www.spg.com membership might get you a suite upgrade

Do their Amex card from free stays in the future.

I've only stayed in the JW Marriott but it was a wonderful hotel with prime beach out front too (a lot of the beaches in front of the hotels on the hotel zone were never as good as they once were after the major hurricane that hit there in '05). Although I've heard wonderful things about the Ritz Carlton too. Pretty sure you won't have a problem watching the superbowl as American football is becoming extremely popular there. DH even got to watch a Steelers football game during the regular season back in '09.

The weather forecast for Mexico is never accurate. Definitely don't let that part stop you.
