Wedding in Mexico or Caribbean

I need to find a good location for a wedding Oct 2008 in an upscale, yet intimate resort in Mexico or the Caribbean. The family thinks hat possibly 100 people may attend,
money is not an issue and the couple wants to be wed on a lovely beach. No large hotels please, but an inclusive resort is ok away from tourists.

For those who have been in Mexico what would be your dream destination if money were not a consideration?

Thanks for your assistance
Jen

Secrets Capri, just north of Playa Del Carmen. Adults only all inclusive. When we were there, there was a wedding on the beach almost every other day. One couple had their wedding dinner around the pool.

I would check out St. John in the Virgin Islands - some of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen.

What citizenship are the bride & groom? There are more legal hoops to jump thru getting married in Mexico (than say Puerto Rico or the USVI if they are US citizens).

There are a number of options for weddings in the state of Yucatan. You can be married in a beautiful hacienda, on the beach, by a Mayan shaman, and more! Check out a great article about it here: http://www.yucatantoday.com/destinat...n-weddings.htm

Suze:

Both bride and groom are US citizens, the bride is of Perisan descent.

Thank you and everyone for your replies.

Thanks Jen. It can be done, but there are some extra hoops to jump thru to be legally married in Mexico (that you would not face in some of the Caribbean destinations).

I have now been told by the Mother of the bride that they do not want an adult only venue. It will be difficult for most of their guests to get to any porperty outside of the USA--most relatives are Persian and many from Iran--so a second reception will have to be done within the continental US. I am thinking an adult only venue is what most of the upscale properties are offering in the Caribbean and Mexico--am I correct? The actual ceremony they want to have on a beach.

I was married in Jamaica at Half Moon Club in 1996, but I do not remember any children there of the other guests--my party had adults only.

No, there's many upscale properties that are not adults only. Four Seasons Punta Mita (outside Puerto Vallarta) comes to mind.

Look at Ceiba del Mar in Puerto Morelos. I believe they make some exceptions with kids for different events and times of year. All inclusive ,small and allows kids is hard to come by.

If I was to do it over again, I would get married at The Caves in Jamaica.....the ultimate romantic resort, but they only have 11 rooms.
