Do you want a small, intimate hotel or a large AI? Will it be adults only or will kids be invited. Some hotels have age limits.

Gee..I was hoping you were going to say small hotel, so I might be able to help you.
Many people like Royal Hideaway. And El Dorado Royale gets good reviews. Both of these are Adult Only. There is also a nudist resort called Hidden Beach that gets great reviews, but it's near Tulum.
In general, the AI's aren't as great of a deal as you think they are and the food usually isn't as good. I know someone will counter that. Check out playadelcarmeninfo.com and get the low-down.

Can't beat Royal Hideaway it's the best all inclusive top shelf, if that's too expensive try Aventura Palace have never been but know people who went it's ADults only also. If you might consider Cancun Riu Palace Americas has been getting great reviews, great location new hotel Good Luck

You might also look into Ceiba del Mar between Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
