Vacation spot needed

Dear Fodorites!!! I need a little help. We are two women in our early 30s looking for a vacation spot in Mexico with good beaches, decent nightlife (safe, of course) and restaurants. We don't care to sightsee, just need a relaxing few days. We don't care for an AI resort but a nice one that sits on the beach with a nice pool would narrow it down. Don't care too much to go Cancun. Any suggestions?

I would recommend the Iberostar Tucan in PDC. I am 28 and was there 2 years ago. I was supposed to return this past fall but had to cancel b/c of the hurricane. I can't wait to go back, though. It is an AI, very nice, great pool, nice beach. They have a disco on the grounds and it's only a 5 minute cab ride from downtown, where there are a lot of awesome restaurants and plenty of bars/clubs.

Acapulco has it all! Stay away from Cancuna s they have not recovered from hurricanes. Cabo is full of LA weekenders. Mazatlan is inundated with graduates in June. Puerto Vallarta does has charm and has several resorts within a few minutes via taxi to the center of town.

The Riviera Maya( just south of Cancun) is in fine condition. Any of the Iberostar resorts there would meet your needs.

Check out Puerto Vallarta or Zihua/Ixtapa. Both have many fine hotels and inns with gorgeous pools and lovely beaches.

Thanks for all the suggestions, however looking to find a hotel and air package for the Iberostars in PDC and can't find. Do I have to book the Iberostar from their website and flight separately?

You might want to check out Mazatlan. We spent 2 weeks there last month.Apple Vactions has travel packages incl air and hotel..We stayed at the Playa .Great location and near 2-3 "discos" and you can walk to many great restaurants..Best beach we saw in the Golden Zone..Very friendly town with many opportunities for day trips if you do not want to just do the beach...
