Looking for beach vacation in June

Three ladies in our 50's, looking for sand, sun, peace and quiet. Prefer not to have to rent a car, don't mind bus or shuttle to town. Beachfront property is a definite must. Not looking for extreme luxury, just a clean, well-run property. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Puerto Vallarta is my best suggestion. Cabo's nice too, but I prefer PV.

If you want beautiful white sand beaches, turquoise water, and great food it's hard to beat the Riviera Maya area of the Mexican Yucatan. This is the stretch that runs from Cancun south for about 100 miles. Check out places like Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Akumal, and Tulum they are all great, but in different ways, and are all quite safe.
For peace and quiet, Akumal may be the best choice - look at the Akumal Caribe Hotel. Locogringo.com is a good resource for this area.

We just got back from Tulum and would return in a heartbeat - absolutely loved it. Small beach hotels with varying degrees of luxury from very basic to quite nice. Miles of white sand beaches. These hotels are all low impact (they generate their own power, etc since the grid doesn't go there) so you won't find a lot of swiming pools, water features, big gardens, etc. It is just a laid-back type of place.

November _moon, please give a trip report with the all the details. We have not looked into the Yucatan due to the flight time from the CA.

How about Isla Mujeres (island off Cancun, Caribbean side)?

For peace, quiet & beach the best IMO is Zihuatanejo. Nothing about PV pr Cabo meets the Peace & Quite.

I am working on the report now I will post soon. We are Californians too and the flight time wasn't bad. United has direct flights between SFO and Cancun, which is nice - 5.5 hours. We were using miles so we didn't have as much choice - we connected through Houston. There are also connections through LAX. When all was said and done, the flight time is about the same as flying from CA to the US east coast.

The better beaches will be on the Caribbean side of Mexico. Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum, Akumel.

Look on www.locogringo.com for accomendations.
