Two Week Trip in Argentina

Hi
We are flying to and from Buenos Aires with two weeks to spend in Argentina. Where would anyone recommend we go - destinations/hotels/activities?
Thanks for your help

A little more information would help us to make more informed recommendations. Budget for hotels? Time of year for your trip? Interests?
That being said, here are the top destinations in Argentina.....

Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Bariloche, Other parts of Patagonia, Salta, Mendoza

I'm sorry..I have to hijack this thread. My cousin and I are thinking about a trip to Argentina for 2 weeks in August 2007. I spent 3 glorious days in BA this past August and 2 unfortunate ones in Iguazu (no water, rain). I am probably going to Chile for a week first to ski, then can fly Santiago-BA and meet her there.

We are 2 very fun girls in our 30s, want to explore, of course love shopping and nice restaurants (In BA I went to Cluny, Casa Lopez, Dominga, and Le Sud, and we are from NYC). Where else should we go after BA? I was thinking Salta, Jujuy, Bariloche. I will not go back to Igauzu.

What is there to do in these other cities? Is there somewhere else after BA we should go instead (i.e. other places in South America)? I also was thinking Machu Picchu but w/o all the hiking (breathing issues). I would love to see Patagonia but I fear August is too cold for any tours???

Would love some advice (Dr.Dawggy that's you!). Honestly, I want to take a trip to Africa but I figure since I'll already be in Chile and I loved BA we should just combine my trip with our big adventure.

HELP!!! Thanks very much!

I just returned from Bariloche. If you are interested in going there, you might want to read my trip report, posted as My Argentine Adventure.
I loved, loved, loved the Aldebaran Hotel.

Our NW (Salta, Jujuy) would be great in August. Our South, if you are into winter sports, but you are already doing that in Chile, so...
I'd say some time in the NW and some time in BA.
I'm sorry, Doc, I just realized the question was directed to you!!! LOL!!

I just returned from a visit to the Salta region. We hired a guide to drive us north and south (highly recommended to do it this way). There is stunning scenery, interesting cultures and foods, etc. I posted a trip report also (on the general Latin America forum, not the Argentina one) on "the Amazing NW Argentina."

Abby43, if you have breathing issues, you might take a look at the altitudes for some of the spots in the Salta region to see if this is the right place for you. Welcomeargentina.com is a website that has alot of information so it might have altitudes. (their might be an "ar" after the .com; i can't remember) The towns you would look up would be Purmamarca, Tilcara and Cachi. I don't think Salta itself would be too high, but to travel to this region and visit only the city but not visit these country villages would be a mistake,IMO.

GreenCar and Abby43, in Buenos Aires we stayed at the Home Hotel, which we absolutely loved. It is near to Palermo Soho which has alot of great restaurants and shopping, a very lively scene, particularly on weekends and at night. The NY Times Travel magazine just did a story on this neighborhood, as have some other publications.
