Does anyone have an idea what kind of weather i can expect in Cancun/Tulum in June (first two weeks). The data on the internet say that it is a relatively rainy month, with -relative- being the operative word, perhaps. I just want an affordable, relaxing vacation, with decent weather. If I wnat rain, I'll stay in Seattle... Thanks!<BR><BR>also, any word on Tulum saftey?

I dunno. I think that the weather can be questionable. Could be rainly for days in a row, I think.

Naturally no one can predict the weather for that area in June. So I will tell you our personal experiences. We have been traveling to that area for many yesrs-we will be there the whole month of June, as it is one of our favorites months. June can be very dry. If there is rain, its usually a shower mid afternoon-early evening. But June is the start of hurricane season-and the possibilty of a tropical depression settling in for a week or two. Personally I would not worry-go have fun.

My husband and I were in the Cancun area the last week of May for the last two years(think we'd learn, huh?) and the first time it rained 3 out of five days. HARD rain. The second time we went (last year) it rained the entire five days we were there--we actually had only one afternoon where the sun kind of peeked out and we ran and got into the cloudy (stirred up from rain) water. It was totally miserable and COLD. We sat in the hotel and shivered. We won't be going during this time of year again, but we are thinking about Mid-July. Here's the thing: if you're with friends or someone you like to be with, and you're creative, you can still have a great trip, and the rates are much cheaper right now. But if you want to luxuriate on the beach in the sun, don't go right now (at least from our experience). Have a great trip!<BR>Emily

If rain will spoil your trip, stay away from June-November. July-October is the most likely to have more rain but it's definitely not unlikely in the months on both ends of the season.

I spent a week in Tulum last June and I'm going back this June. There was one brief afternoon shower while I was there. A couple of other times there were small, nearby, thunderstorms in the afternoon but they did not affect me.<BR>The days were very hot and humid. My cabana was right on the beach and caught great sea breezes round the clock. With no electricity, it would have been miserable trying to sleep at night but the wind off the sea kept it very comfortable, almost chilly at times. If you are in town, or otherwise away from the sea breeze, you can get hot and sweaty very fast. Don't worry about it, just go, be flexible, and enjoy.

It is likely to be very very hot, but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves immensely in the first two weeks of June 1998. We had no rain and very few clouds the entire 1 1/2-week stay, but I have also read that is normally a rainy month. You just never know with weather. You can expect to find cold in Wisconsin in January and heat in North Carolina in August, but rain is so unpredictable. I also traveled to Italy last October, which is supposedly one of its rainiest months. We had rain for two hours during almost two weeks and only one cloudy day. Two weeks later, it was pouring all the time.<BR><BR>
