Trip report 12 wounderful days-Day 4

9am our tour guide from Costa Rican Vacations arrives her name is Wendy. Wendy is a non stop talking encyclopidia. She anwsers all our questions along the way and tells us about all the trees and animals we run into. The transfer also includes a trip to La Paz again. However the trip is better with Wendy and less people we are shown and learn so much more.
After La Paz we hear to La Fortuna and the Tabacon Resort. The roads are not as bad as I was led to believe. Far less pot holes. The driving takes longer than in the US but it's not bad.
We arrive at the Tabacon Resort check in is a breeze then off to our room 300 a superior jr suite. What a room the volcano right out our window. Next we walk the grounds of the hotel and run into a tree of wild turkeys. We then walk to the hot priings about a block down a hill. This place is eden pools and streams everywhere mut be as big as three football fields. Accros the street is another section that most people never know is there its not on the hotel map but you must see it as well. The trip back is uphill on a walkway with steps or you can request they send a shuttle to pick you up.
Dinner at the hotel pool resteraunt was the best outstanding and the price was great. Best of all the cloud cover clears and the volcano has lava running down the sides.

Next day 5

I'm glad to hear you got to see the volcano in action! I'm hoping to see the same next month. I'm also happy to hear that you enjoyed the food at Tabacon. I've heard many negative things about it, so maybe it's improving.

What a wonderful trip report!!!! Thanks for posting. I will be staying 2 nights at the Tabacon in a junior suite, but not a superior junior suite. From the hotel map that you mention, can you tell what the room layout is? I am wondering which one I should request, i.e. certain block of rooms, first floor, secnd floor etc. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I would sat get the upper level if possible. People have complained about smells at the hotel its the hot water. The water is pumped direct from the hot springs and has a sulfur smell. The water has occasional black specks from the ash, the cold is fine to drink though.

Thanks for responding to my question so quickly. Is the sulfur smell really strong? (when you bathe, in the hot springs, etc)
