tours vs. doing it yourself

Any thoughts on the tours like snorkling in the caves, eating with a Mayan family, the mayan ruins...or just going yourself to these areas?

Obviously, I am new to this posting. I thought since I was looking at Mexico and the Mayan Riviera it would show that on the posting. Sorry. We are staying in the Mayan Riviera of the Yukatan Penisula of Mexico. Thank you.

The Mexican Rivieria is quite spread out, so unless your familar with area and don't mind renting a car, I would do a tour.

Personally, we like tours. Transporation and lunch are included. We like that the tour guide is quite knowlegable of the area and can explain interesting and relevant facts to us. We don't want to spend all our time trying to find the places we are looking for on our own.

Your hotel will have a tour desk to help you schedule a tour or if you want to book on-line beforehand there are several companies.

Check out:

Or do a google search for "excursions in Playa del Carmen, MX".
