Taking two imodium every day without needing them is terrible advice and may lead to medical complications. They should be taken as indicated and as directed.

Yes, my mom is a nurse and she hesitates even when I ask if I should take some Immodium when I really do need it! It's to be used as a last resort, it's definitely not a preventive drug.

Agreed, don't take Immodium unless you really need it. However, I have heard many people, including the nurse at our travel clinic, say that it's okay to use Pepto as a preventitive.
