Tough request I'm afraid...

My husband and I stayed at Dreams in PV about 18 months ago and would love to return to PV. However we have a new addition to our family, a beagle pup who's is now about 16 months old. Does anybody know of anything we can rent so we could consider bringing our little buddy? We'd love to return to Dreams but I don't think I can be away from him for a week....

I don't have a specific hotel recommendation, but I have seen people vacationing with their dogs in PV. Is he small enough to ride in the plane cabin? I would not put such a young pup into cargo, myself.

Hi Suze, he's about 25lbs, so I'm not sure about the cabin, guess I should call the airlines. As far as cargo? No-go! I think that would be worse than being away from him.

Thanks!

I think most airlines limit the pup weights to 20 or under. Cargo is no place for a dog unless you really have no other options. I am sympathetic, I have six pups and HATE to leave them at home, but learned the hard way that is the best solution unless they are not going to be separated from me in transit.

Thanks cmcfong, I doubt a diet would do it We did go to Florida last Nov. and boarded him in a kennel that came highly recommended by friends. He had a blast and was just fine. I was a wreck though. Maybe this year it will have to be a road trip. 6 pups, WOW!

Good call,Baxter's mom. Our six have a home sitter so we don't kennel them (I would probably need a second mortgage to afford boarding six of them). I live in rural North Carolina and a lady lives here with them for $30 a day. Talk to the vet techs at your vet's office and you may find a good fit.

PS Love beagles. They are so cuddly.

That's my point exactly. I would never put a dog in cargo and I don't think yours will be allowed on the plane. Also, quite honestly, I would not take a young dog into Mexico myself either. I would leave him safely at home. If you can't do this yet I would postpone the vacation until you can.
I don't mean to sound harsh, I'm saying this *because* I am an animal lover.

Good advice from both of you: Suze and cmcfong! Not harsh at all. I've had a cat for 20+ years and she was so easy, a friend would come by every day to feed and play. A dog is a different story. A sacrifice was never so worth it though.

BTW, Baxter has kept the cat young, she's still with us!

Thanks again!

I hope I don't sound like a snob but not to mention there's some street-riff-raff-doggies in Vallarta, I'd just as soon my own wasn't hanging around with.
