Thoughts on the Iberostar Pariso Beach

I will be travelling to the Iberostar Pariso Beach in December. Has anyone been there? What are your thoughts on this resort?

Sadly my comment is pretty negative...We went last October and outside of the rain everyday I thought the food was definetely re-cycled and frankly $ for $ the D.R. was a better bargain. The entertainment for that week was pretty lame and the mosquitos were a serious nusiance...Unless you are located in mid-resort thereis a long, long walk to the main area and the little train that occasionally comes is usually full. the grounds are beautiful if that helps, but their treatment of animals in displays if your an animal lover is pretty cruel. they are well taken care of and fed...but that is it. Didn't mean to be this negative, but this one experience has turned me off any other Iberostar resorts anywhere..including the D.R. From all postings on the resort I may be one of the few whose experience was completely negative... couldn't wait to go home.

The animals in the Tucan / Quetzal were well looked after and there was always some staff feeding them and giving them fresh water early in the morning and during the day too. They also kept the caged birds very clean and there was no smells at all.

At the resort there were deer and I think emu being kept behind stone walls near the pool in mud and a limited area for them to roam, the cages that I saw werewell kept, but about a dozen african greys kept on a dead branch near the lobby could only sit there all day long in the hot sun and just had water and food...this is not the way tropical birds (and they aren't from Mexico or S. America) live..even talking to a manager didn't help..the animal care taker didn't speak english and didn't understand my limited spanish. Oh yes.. the two large macaws that were being used for "photographs" weren't being treated too kindly by their handlers either... As you can tell by my name...I have an strong idea of what I am talking about.

Parrot Mom loves to slam this resort. Yet, I have stayed there and thought it was wonderful. I have sent hundreds of clients there and not gotten one negative review. I have read hundred of trip reports and rarely see a negative comment. Go you will have a wonderful time.
Go to www.mytravelboard.com or www.ramproductions.com for many reviews.

We went to the IB Paraiso in July. It is a fantastic resort. Food was excellent, even had lobster one day. The star friends (entertainers) were great. Pool is unbelievable. Disco is alot of fun. We had no complaints. We now are trying to find a different resort to go to because there is a group of 13 going and that resort isn't in all of our price ranges. Trying to find something that is comparable and not be disappointed is really hard. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

It is not often that I am negative about a travel experience and I have not written I believe anything about this resort in a year, because I seem to be the only person who is honest enough that had a negative experience. Was told by a staff member they only had 60% of their staff on duty because of 9/11..There were several instances during our visit that thatg I could dwell on, but .The old saying of "don't say anything if you can't say something good".. may be appropriate, but we have been traveling the Caribbean and South American for over 20 years....and I definetely felt at this time of putting my "two cents" in Perhaps I set my expectations of the Iberostar resorts too high....after all the positive notes I had read... but recycled food at the buffets, except for one night the worst entertainment (was told by the Entertainment Director and guest it was "better last week"} I have ever seen and surly staff do not make for a good experience.

Jennifer, I suggest you read reviews on this website:
www.debbiescaribbeanresortreviews.com< BR>or
www.caribbeanopinion.net
While this resort is beautiful, it has some serious drawbacks but it's mainly due to the layout. From the beach to the lobby, there are 10 buildings plus a mangrove forest you have to walk by before you reach either destination (a good 15 to 20 minute walk). We were there two weeks and this really grated on my nerves after a while. The beach isn't the best in the area with a rocky outcropping right smack in the middle of it!! As a result, everyone wanted to crowd onto only half the available beach, lounge chairs were at a premium, the beach voleyball was set up in an area where some rocks were just under the sand surface and if you fell, you might land on some rocks!! If you stayed only one week, all this was OK because the overall resort WAS beautiful but, as I said, after two weeks, it was just plain annoying!!! Once the sun was beginning to set and you were still on the beach...look out...the mosquitos came out in full force and you had to walk thru the mangrove forest!!! Talk about live bait!!! To be fair, if I had stayed only one week, my opinion would have been far different. Go and enjoy yourself because it's worth seeing such a beautiful resort.

The food was so bad that we rented a jeep and drove into playa de carman every night. The beach is small, a long walk and there were not enough umbrellas, the towel policy is a joke and forget even being able to dine in the restraunt of your choice even if you do decide to stay and endure the food. This was our 1st and last Inclusive experience.
