Trying to decide to stay at the Royal in Playa del Carmen. How is the beach? Any info on the resort is appreciated.

The Royal Playa del Carmen is a wonderful adults only resort. It is a five minute walk from 5th Ave. in Playa. The beach is good as is the sersvice.
Trip advisor has many reviews on this resort.

The beach is very nice with beach beds available for guests. I saw many weddings there over the summer. One observation I made while walking past one day that I didn't see before - some of the front line beach beds were labeled reserved for guests staying in the suites. But you can walk the beach from the Royal way to the north and to the south you can walk to the beach bars to the ferry pier.

We stayed at The Royal in Sept. 07. Loved it. We've been to many AI hotels and for the price, The Royal has been the best. We went 2 weeks after Hurricane Dean, so the beach wasn't that great, but I understand it has improved. The location can not be beat. Easy walk to 5th Avenue.

The Royal is a great AI. I would gladly stay there again. The beach is very nice and service was wonderful. An AI is not necessary in Playa as you can walk everywhere and there are tons of restaurants and bars outside the resort. There are amazing condos that you can rent in Playa too, but if you want to spend the $ The Royal Playa is great.

No whales at the Royal Playa del Carmen. Most of the "whales" are in tje Playacar area.

There are no whales on this beach and to the north. The pier is adjacent to the beach and on the other side is the Gran Porto Real. Their beach is nice but the water has a lot of rock in it. The pier is closed. The beach at the Royal is quite nice.
