The Peace Lodge

Has anyone heard when the Peace Lodge and the Waterfall Gardens will reopen? I know they originally said 3 months, but I haven't heard any updates lately. Does anyone have any news?

Did I hear a revised "August"? Or was that just someone's thought not too long ago? Last time I looked at the website, there was nothing new there. No updates, nada, which I thought odd as so many are wondering about it. I'll bet the work was more extensive than they let on. Just those and rails and steps up and down the falls would be a big deal.

Our driver a few weeks ago said that the Lodge wasn't that bad though they didn't have a date for opening. He said they didn't think the falls would be open for another 9 months at best. He told us he couldn't believe how extensive the damage actually was until he saw it with his own eyes.

Oh, wow - I hate to hear that, but thanks for the news. I can't imagine how hard it will be to get the falls repaired. shillmac, I thought the same thing, no updates on the website.

Hi vgirl. I hate to hear it too. I've gotten addicted to that place even though it is WAY beyond our budget. We sure do love those rooms! Apparently, I left some words out in the post above. motmot does that sometimes!

Website needs a monthly update or something. It is as if they don't want to talk about it. I'm sure the road repairs are #1 in that area.

So true - I had my doubts when they said 3 months, but I thought they would run some updates on their site. We're addicted to the place too. It's the only place we go in CR where I think I am NOT leaving this room!

I just emailed them last week and they said they'd be in full operation in about 4 months.
The gardens and waterfall are open.

I haven't communicated with them for a month or so.

I know they were trying to get the hotel up and running by August. We tried to send an August reservation, and they said that it would now be the end of the year.

Hopefully, they will be able to step up the schedule a little bit.

Good to hear that the trails are open again.

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer any more advice.

Warm Regards,

Hi, Pat - I don't know if this would be illegal on Fodor's, but I was thinking it would be great if you included your website in your signature on your posts. I know that a lot of people would love to use you, but don't know what your website is.

That's a great idea! The rest of us can certainly post it: www.lovecostarica.com

(just in case Pat doesn't feel he can include it routinely)

Thanks Shillmac and volcanogirl. I am afraid that the powers that be won't allow me to promote my travel business. So I can't post my web address. I can only include my email address in my profile.

But that is a good thing. Otherwise, the forums would end up being loaded with nothing but ads from travel agents and hotels. So I play by the rules, in the interest of the greater good.

Regarding Peace Lodge. I spoke to them today, when I sent them a Christmas reservation. They told me that they will have eight rooms open by July 1. It will be nice to have them back!

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer any more advice.

Warm Regards,
