Taxi Cost

Booked a week at Riu Plaza Las Americas in cancun. Hotel transfers are not included. Are taxies ambly available at the airport. About how much should I expect to pay?

Don't worry about taxies at the Cancun airport...believe me !!! As for taxi fares, arrange a price before you get in. No tips are necessary in Mexico, it's up to you. They are efficient and safe.

You will need to arrange for a taxi at the airport to come in and pick you up. Taxi's are not permitted to sit and wait for fares at the airport. There are many vans available for you to rent for transport to your hotel or you can take the ADO bus to the Cancun bus station and then take a taxi to your hotel. Depends on how much you want to spend. You can arrange for a taxi before leaving the terminal if you want to go that way.

Doesn't sound like both responders agree!

Regardless, taxi's have to be called to pick you up at the airport. I live in MX part time. I'm at that airport frequently. You can get a taxi but it will not be waiting outside for you. Shuttles are different and can look like taxi's. They are not part of the taxi syndicate.

I'd just book a private transfer, in the past I have used USA Transfers. Taxis have to pay a premium to the aiport. Going back is a different story.

As you are about to leave the terminal and just before you reach the last set of doors, there are dozens of people on either side of the walkway wanting your attention for all kinds of services. All you need do is ask someone for taxi service and I can assure you that it will be there to greet you at a pre authorized location... just ask and you will receive, that is what Mexico is all about, wether you live in Mexico or not.
