I will be in Argentina in March. I'm looking at the hassle and high cost of car rentals and thought maybe a few one way remises would work better.

I'm in a group of 4 and specifically am looking for a remis from San Antonio de Areco to Tigre.

I thought I would ask the question about availability and / or price as I've not seen any discussions beyond getting to / from the airport.

Advice from all would be greatly appreciated.

says it is about 93 kilometers from San Antonio de Areco to Tigre.

They should have remises in Areco and the good ones probably charge about 2 pesos per kilometer, plus tolls, at this time. I would avoid cheap remises.

So, you can do the math, but it will cost you around 200 pesos.

BTW, Rastaguytoday, did you see my reply to your post in the "Trip to BA - Planning ahead and have questions" thread?

While I am on that subject, apartmentsba is supposed to have a concierge service for their customers. Why don't you ask them about the cost and availability of this transportation?

It would be great if you can report on their answer.

Yes I did see your reply. It's a good man who recommends (although with a caveat) an apartment even though the owner and you are not the best of friends.

I'm sure there is an Argentine saying about "cheap" that's something like penny wise, pound foolish. I will apply that to a remis rental also.

Thank you for the link. I will certainly check it out. My traveling companions want a couple of nights at El Ombu. I thought spending a night at San Antonio de Areco would be a bit more "real" than the tourist estancias.

Tigre is because we are Argentine neophytes and I thought a day or so in Tigre to also be a change of pace.

I stayed a weekend at El Ombu and loved it. It was beautiful and the people very nice. They arranged a car into San Antonio for me and I had a lovely visit there.

I believe it is a good choice. To be driven to Areco.
I agree that it has to be a reputable company and maybe you can settle for a flat fee.It makes sense being a long trip. We have done it in other countries, i.e. Greece and it always worked with a flat fee. It is a better feeling for both customer and driver , in Buenos Aires actually it is a flat fee going to the Airport...

I usually only use concierge service for a city I might be in.

I prefer to arrange my own travel, which is why I seldom use travel agents or services.

I just wondered what that concierge service would answer to the question you asked here. If that is considered "setting me (you) up", well...
