Tabacon Hot Spring-Need reservations?

We are going to Costa Rica in August and was wondering if I need to make reservations for the evening hot springs at Tabacon or can I make it when I arrive at my hotel in Arenal? Also, should we not go there cause of the warnings and go to another hot springs?

Hi--
We made reservations for the buffet and hotsprings, a few days before going. I'm not sure if it was necessary or not.

I found it to be a bit hectic, and the food wasn't that great. Once we got out to the springs, it was really beautiful. If I did it again, I'd probably look into alternatives.

Are you talking about the restaurant or the hot springs? As far as I know, you dont need any reservations for the hot springs. The restaurant at the hot springs is not worth the money. Eat at El Novillo down the road.

We went in early Feb. which is supposed to be high season and didn't have reservations. The buffet is typical American buffet - nothing great. Was $45 for buffet and evening at hot springs.

I went to Tabacon a few days ago--the buffet was full but the hot springs weren't--so you do need reservations. My husband and I hated the zoo quality--I'd try a smaller hot springs ( such as ecotermales--I've never been there)next time.
