Summer Vacation
My boyfriend and I are looking to take a nice trip in August. I'm looking at Mexico. I would love to visit the Yucatan, but I'm concerned about hurricanes. We're looking to relax, enjoy beaches, pools and have some fun. I don't want to break the bank are there suggestions for Mexico in August?

The southern Yucatan is at greatest risk in Mexico as regards potential damage by hurricanes and tropical storms. The Pacific Coast of Mexico also is at risk, but lesser than Quintana Roo on the Yucatan. Hurricane season runs through October.

However it's also worth noting that only 8 hurricanes have hit here since 1900 -- so one every 12-13 years, on average if you're keeping score at home. Of course a lot of people are saying this year will be worse (why I don't know) but nobody knows and that statistic may be good for balance on this point.

Have you thought of Aruba probably pay the same amt and no Hurricanes Worth giving it a thought. Hurricanes this year so far (we have had a few) already which is unusual in JUly I have had to cancel vacations twice in October. I thought I was safe then. I won't ever book again either in Cancun or P.Vallarta until Hurricane is over which is November thru May. If you can consider Aruba try the Occidental Hotels all inclusive and very nice.
