Split time btwn Cancun and Playa del Carmen?
I was planning my June honeymoon for Cancun and thought about splitting 10 nights between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Playa seems to be closer to some of the archeological sites as well as Cozumel. Recommendations?

Hello,
We are going back next month for 2 1/2 weeks and are splitting it this way - 3 nights Playa del Carmen, 4 nights Cancun, 3 nights Isla Mujeres, 8 nights Cozumel.
We've been to all of these places quite a few times (except IM) and they all offer very different experiences.
We have already been to all of the ruins in the area, so that will not be a focus of our trip.
I think splitting your honeymoon between the two would be great, but realize that partying and shopping are the main focus of Cancun. (It doesn't offer much of an exotic travel experience unless you count the stunningly beautiful beach and water
You might think about 5 in PDC and 5 in Cozumel. Coz is awesome and not nearly as plastic and commercial as Cancun.
Congrats!

I agree with the previous posters.

3 years ago, we spent 5 nights in the Mayan Riviera (south of Playa). Toured Coba, Tulum, Akumal.

Then, we spent 3 nights in Cozumel.

The final 3 nights we spent at the Royal Hideaway in Playacar.

It was a great vacation and we got a flavor for the different places. The previous year we had been to Cancun for only 3 nights, after touring Merida and the Mayan sites nearby. Cancun is just not as cool as Playa or Cozumel, unless nigtlife is your #1 priority.
