Snorkeling in Soliman Bay

How is the snorkeling in Soliman Bay? Has there been any hurricane damage to the reef? I've heard that Half Moon Bay has some great snorkeling. Did the hurricane affect the reef there? Also, how is the water temperature in March? Warm, cool, cold? We are staying on Soliman Bay next month and this is our first trip to this area. We are looking for great snorkeling areas. Thanks, as always, for any info you have.

Soliman Bay is enough to get you started, but then you may want to see "more" while snorkling.

Akumal has Half Moon Bay which you know about.
There is Akumal Bay which is known to have sea turtle sightings. You can hire a snorkle boat and guide or do it yourself.
I thought Yalku Lagoon was the best which is on the most north end of the road in Akumal.

Look at locogringo.com for info on damage to reef. There have been a few people reporting back.

Thanks, pepper131, for the info. I have been on the locogringo site but had not seen the HMB snorkeling guide map. I've printed it out to take with me. I am planning to snorkel Soliman Bay, Half Moon Bay, and Yal Ku for sure.

I will also be on Soliman next month. I have rented a home there for vacation for several years. The snorkeling was great last year. You have to go out way past the breakers to be wowed, but even in the bay you can see large manta rays. Maybe we will be neighbors? Send me a private message at [email protected] if you are also renting there.
