Jennifer, I have not read any complaints about on-going construction or related noise at Si Como No. We too are heading there for a few days in August so I will e-mail Si Como No to find out.
But I follow this forum closely and the only complaints I read here were about Villa Caletas (about 2 hours north of Si Como No).
Please post some detail on where you saw the complaints - was it on a different forum?

I also saw some people complaining about construction noise at Si Como No in the Costa Rica forum. I'm curious about that too, as I was planning to make a reservation for there in January. So now I'm wondering if it would be better to stay at Makanda. Though is Makanda as kid friendly? We have an 8 and 12 year old we'll be bringing.

Si Como No bought the hotel next door and are enlarging their place...There is construction going on now. I am sure it will be done before January as we all try to get all major construction projects done before our "high season"...I do not believe Makanda allows children, you definitely better check if you are thinking of January as you ought to be booking reservations soon for that time, our "peak season"....But I am almost certain that they do not allow children, teenagers perhaps...I think makanda is at [email protected] so best to ask soon...
Best warm wishes from Manuel Antonio!
Robbie Felix
[email protected]

I e-mailed Si Como No (we are supposed to stay there Aug 5-8) and they e-mailed back saying that there is construction going on next door but that it is away from the room they reserved for us.
We'll see when we get there I guess. I will post a report when we're back.

Thanks for the info about Makanda. I didn't realize they didn't allow kids.
Iza, to get to the Costa Rica forum, I just selected Costa Rica from the menu at the top of this forum. I guess it's not a separate form, but it is specific to Costa Rica.
