Shuttle Services From SJO

I'm traveling with my mom and sister to Costa Rica and our plane arrives at SJO at 1:00am (GULP). We would like to take a shuttle to our hotel, but so far none I've found offer services at this late/early hour. Does anyone know of a shuttle service that has twenty-four hour service? It would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you staying? You simply need to get a taxi. There will be several waiting there at the airport. They are bright red.

Thank you for your advice. I'll be staying at the Best Western San Jose Downtown.

A taxi into San Jose will cost you about $12 or $15 dollars. Don't mean to mess with your plans, but is there a reason you are staying in San Jose? The airport isn't there. It is west of San Jose about 20 min. in the provincial capital of Alajuela. There are any number of excellent hotels within 5-10 minutes. I'd be happy to suggest 1 or 2. At that time of day, it would be very nice not to have to spend any more time traveling than you have to. Unless one specifically wants to spend time in San Jose or begin a tour from there, most choose to stay out of the city.

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it in mind next time. I didn't realize it wansn't in San Jose. My mom purchased a flight+hotel package and that's what came with it. I speak spanish and was wondering is there any specific phrases you should use when negotiating pricing with the driver?

I don't think there will be much in the way of negotiations! They seem to have a set price for transfer into San Jose. It won't be a problem.
