Sansi 25 LB Weight Restriction

Hi everyone, I want to know what to expect if my luggage is over the 25lb weight limit.

I am flying from Quepos to San Jose on Sansi and I expect my luggage and small carry on to have a cumulative weight of about 31lbs.

My travel agent thought they would not weight my carry on bag. Is that correct?

Secondly, if they do weigh everything and I the weight is 31lbs, should I expect to just pay for the extra weight or will they refuse to take my luggage on the flight?

The extra charge for the luggage does not concern me, but I do worry about them refusing to take my bags.

What should I expect?

Out of Quepos, they're very lax. They sometimes (but not always) weigh both carry on and luggage but very honestly you are SO close, don't worry about it.

PS: keep your camera handy on the flight from Q. to SJ. On a clear day, the views are spectacular. Our last pilot followed the coast for 10 minutes, GREAT pics! Safe travels!

In our case they didn't weigh our carry-on luggage. If the plane is fully booked, they may pay more attention to weight...

I just saw someone get charged for 2 extra lbs out of the Drake Bay airport but the charge was minimal. They didn't weight the handluggage though.

They weighed everything, checked & carry-on luggage and us too! But it was a full flight.

I posted a similar question - look for thhread 'restricted luggage allowance on internal flightss' - was only a couple of days ago so should be easy to find.

People's experiences seem to vary but I am going to opt for very lightweight clothing and limited extras such as shampoo and stuff

It's been a couple years, but Sansa weighed our carryon along with our luggage. Of course, then they forgot our luggage in San Jose, but that's another story.....

We flew Sansa from SJO to Quepos last month. They weighed our checked luggage, asked us how much we wieghed (but didn't weigh us). They did not weigh our carry on luggage - 3 daypacks and a medium size duffel.

I don't think you need to worry about it.

Simply do your best to travel light , this IS a place that is very casual . It is in everyones best interest to not be over in the weight limit . I have had luggage left behind on a major U.S. carrier due to the flight being completely full and over its weight limit . Everyone arrived minus 1 peice of luggage , we found out later why .

Just got back. The weight limit was 30lbs and not 25lbs and they only checked my suitcase and not carry on.

Those small planes are neat.

Hi,We recently flew sansa out of Tortuguero and they never weighed anything. Having said that, we did weigh our baggage before leaving the States and we paired down to 24 lbs a piece. Still I brought things that I never wore the entire trip. I think with better planning I can get down to 20 lbs. It really isn't that hard to pack light for CR. Have a great time.

I just flew from San Jose to Palmar Sur and back last week and they only weighed my checked bag in San Jose. They did not weigh my carryon backpack, but did ask for my weight. For the flight from Palmar Sur to San Jose, they didn't weigh anything nor did they ask my weight. Both flights were full.
