San Juan del Sur or Granada

I only have about 3.5 days to tour and I would like some advice. Should I spend my time in San Juan del Sur or Granada or try to do both? I don't want to feel rushed though.

I am a female in my late 20's traveling alone so I want to be safe. I am mostly interested in relaxation and sight-seeing, not partying. I want to be surrounded by beauty and interesting scenery. Any advice welcome.

I think it pretty much comes down to - do you want to be looking at a beach, or old colorful colonial buildings and a volcano?

SJDS sort of dodgy not pretty not great beach

except for surfing..

Mango Rosa and Buena Vista Surf club are decent

out of town if you decide to go there

which I would not in the time you have.

Plenty to do around Granada...

Another hotel to consider in Granada - Hotel Patio de Malinche. http://www.patiodelmalinche.com/english/

Laid back, but still with the colonial feel. Really liked the location, set back a bit from the square, but convenient to both ends of town. The staff and owners constantly helpful and very nice. The ever changing tropical juice and fruit platters of the day seemed to be a source of some pride, but hot breakfasts if you wish, were also good.
