San Jose, Costa Rica Must Sees
Since my mom, my sister and I will be staying in San Jose, we thought we might get to know that city a trite for at least a part of a day. For you Costa Rica frequenters that have spent some time in San Jose, what are your favorite museums, parks, sites etc in San Jose? Thanks!

Gold Museum
Jade Museum
National Theatre
Plaza de la Cultura
Mercado Central
These are all within easy walking distance of one another and will give you an excellent day with a little "along the way" shopping thrown it!

For a real taste of culture be sure to go to Mercado Central. I enjoy just sitting in front of the Gran Hotel, which is across from the National Theater, at their cafe. There were still a few souvenier hawkers the last time I was there but not nearly as many as there used to be because it is controlled now. There is a good newstand right around the corner where you can get international papers to read while taking a break.
