Salta which hotel, which places to visit

Hi, we wish to visit Salta next September. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel del Virrey in Salta City? Is it good ? and which are the places you have enjoyed more visiting? Also restaurants,...I am begining to prepare this trip and firstly I would like to know what I would like to do.
( The truth is that I have visited Salta twice but this has been ages ago, on those days Hotel Salta was the best in town and there were only a few more)

Flintstones where are you?

You are needed here!!! LOL!!!

Graziella: I'm just back from Salta and I have a thread about it in another forum, with at least three chapters still to go.

Hi avrooster, You were in SaltaĦ That is great, I bet you had a wonderful time.... I would love to know all about your experience there. Where is that thread of yours? I would love to read it.

Graziella: my Salta thread is on tripadvisor.com

I thought I would not need to specify which forum I was talking about.

"Flintstones" is a great Salta guide, who posts as "Giena", in another forum.

Hi Graziela: sorry, avrooster...
Well, there are a number of nice hotels in town now, tiny ones, but very nice, like: Posada del MArquez in downtown.( I like the location better)... El LAgar, which is close to La Balcarse ST ( if you like nightlife, it is perfect)... Papirus, but the location... it is a little far away from downtown... an there are many aparthotels, hotels and hostals. For all tastes, for all wallets...
Salta is still a nice place to stay, but maybe you like something more... personalised I would say.
Tell me waht you want. Pleased to helpo you. Hotel el Virrey is nice but nobody I know stayed there.

Places to visit... Salta is the centre of the NW, you can take one or two-day tours to any direction. Quebrada de Humahuaca (1) or quebrada de Humahuaca and the Salt Flats staying in Purmamarca(2).. Cafayate is also something you should not miss. You can start in Tucuman , in Salta or in Jujuy and finish your circuit in any of these cities also. You can plan your own tour.
