Safety in Cancun ........ also club med??
Hi. How safe is Cancun for a male traveler traveling alone? I had read a u.s. travel advisory had warnings for Cancun that got me scared (muggings, rape..)
Also, how is club med cancun?
Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks

I have travelled to PV on my own as a female and I did this when I was 21 (just 6 years ago). I was catious of where I went and at what time of day but I was never scared. I also feel that I would go to Cancun and the Mayan Riviera on my own.
At Club Med you will have so much to do and see that you won't even need to leave the property if you are nervous, but I don't think there is really any need to be. Go for it! You'll have fun! Travelling on your own leaves you the flexibility to do whatever you want when you want!
Have fun - nothing to be worried about!

I've been to Cancun several times, never alone. But I have never heard anything whatsoever that make me feel "scared" or in danger of life and limb.I have also stayed at CM and as most CM's are,it is a destination in and of itself. No need to go anywhere and it is a gorgeous locale.Go.

I've been to Cancun tons of times, a few alone, and feel safer there than I do here. Have been out til 4 or 5 in the morning, taken public transportation back to the hotel with no problems. Just use common sense. Never been to Club Med, though.

Ocean,
I'm headed to Club Med Cancun in two days (yay!). From whe I've heard, the resort itself is extremely safe, with guards posted all over the place 24 hours a day. I'm not sure if non-resort people can even get in without the bracelet.
Looking forward to going very much! This is my 3rd Club Med...my other 2 were fantastic! Everyone is super-social and there is something going on all the time. You could not possibly run out of things to do. I'm looking forward to waterskiing, trampolining, water polo, kayaking, volleyball, snorkeling, and dancing.
