Royal at Cancun

Has anyone stayed at The Royal at Cancun AI yet? Evidently, it just opened in February. They're offering good deals right now; I want to make sure that it's not too good to be true. I'm contemplating visiting in late May.

Thanks!

There are several posts and reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor. So far it's getting very good comments.

I just booked for 5/23 -5/30 through Bookit.com. We pay for a royal Oceanfront corner suite @199.99 per person per day and they upgrade us to the 1 Bdrm Presidential suite for free. I haven't found anything even close on any other site. We also get a free facial, $100 resort credit and a 1 hr mini cooper rental. Not too shabby.

i hear that they constantly overbook this hotel and send guests to another location.... just an "FYI" - because of that, i am a lil leary of this place as I would hate for that to happen to me. The place looks awesome though. (read reviews on www.tripadvisor.com)

Actually, the overbooking is taking place at the Royal Playa del Carmen, not the Royal Cancun.

According to Trip Advisor, the overbooking problem is at the Royal Cancun. Lots of people have reported being bumped to lesser calibur resorts.

When the Royal Playa del Carmen first opened they had the same overbooking problems. We waited 3 years after the Royal Playa del Carmen opened before we went in order for them to get all the new opening issues taken care of. It appears the Royal Cancun is having some of those same issues. Give them awhile to get the newness off and the overbooking problem should eventually resolve itself.
